To become a law student is a great moment of happiness. One feels a sort of self empowerment. Law study is unique because it gives us a very practical approach of life. We also know the system legally working. Law study makes our position stronger, gives us a feeling of self pride.
Method of Case Study
To become a Law Student is also very painful. It’s a new world of study totally different from our earlier experiences of facing exams in universities. We come across a new technique of learning legal subjects that is called the method of case study. It means the law students have to study law and its provisions in light of landmark judgments on different topics of his or her syllabus. In this way legal confusion and position in any topic is cleared through the study of judgments analyzing relevant laws. Reading judgments as a law student gives us new feelings. Many judgments are of British time and very tough to remember even the names of those judgments. Some judgments are of present Supreme Court. As a student , one has to make his habit to note down the gist of an important judgment.
To Clear Concept on All topics of Subject
Legal study is also not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires application of mind. We have realized that reading and remembering the law subjects is not enough. Law study is very conceptual. So there is always a competition among students to clear concepts on a particular topic. Family Law , Criminal Law, Tort , Contract-, Constitution are the initial subjects which seem to be very hard because of the implications of legal concepts. It is the stage of more readings more confusions but constant reading will clear one’s concept on all topics of law subjects.

One of my classmates bought so many books on the subjects to cover his syllabus and failed in the exams. We came to know that passports and exam materials are more important to pass exams than reference books. How to Write Answer in exams
Always focus your answer on the topic of the question. One should directly point out the law involved in the question in the very begging of the answer. Then deal with the topic with the ingredients of sections , articles , orders or rules applicable here. Also describe in very short some landmark cases on the topic and what was held by court in those judgments which made them landmark. One thing must remember in mind that student should try to devote equal time to all questions. Its not easy because some questions will create temptations to describe them in more detail. Time management with all questions will do justice with your answer sheet, otherwise it is to create an impression of becoming imbalanced.
Skill of Writing
As a law student I always preferred simple way of presentation. Message should be very clear. Answer should be straightforward. Use very simple and short sentences. Main thing is our conceptual clarity. Never use those words which meaning and spelling you yourself is not sure. Write simple words instead of any confusing and tough ones. While using simple sentences , we will commit less grammatical mistakes. The purpose of law exams are to evaluate your legal knowledge and concept and the same should be conveyed through simple and straightforward writing. It is also not expected that a student will write bookish language in exams as the language of law is the toughest one and the same can not be reproduced as we generally do in exams of other subjects.
Writing Answer as a Practice
Writing answerers as a practice is still the best form of preparation for exams. Write answers in the scheduled time and check your copy yourself as an examiner. The drawbacks and shortcomings will come before you and strategically remove them. Never be over confident that you will directly right in exams everything. There is an old saying that practice makes a man perfect. A law student should also be habitual in writing concluding para in the answer where he will clear his legal stand and views with respect to the twist of question involved.
